Star, Life or Eagle service project proposals must be approved by Scoutmaster Banuelos or ASM Mrs. Tanaka before it can be officially put on the troop calendar. All scouts should review the approval process with the Scoutmasters to avoid any confusion. Service Projects Approval Process

Troop 301 Newest Eagle Scout: Congratulations to Russell Chin and Scott Chin on earning their Eagle Rank in October. Congrats Russell, Scott, Kien , Vinnie and Chin family.

Personal Fitness (Eagle required) MB Class - The class meets 7am to 8am at Monterey Highlands Park in Monterey Park. The next class date will be June 25. Please meet by the playground equiment near the first parking lot. This is an on-going MB class and scouts may join at any time during the year- signup with Scoutmaster Banuelos. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Bring a large towel and water bottle.

BSA Medical Forms Parts A and B - Medical forms must be renewed each year. Parts A and B are for weekend campouts (eg. Camporee) and does not require a doctors signature. Part C is required for Summer Camp and needs a physcial with doctor's signature. Currently several scouts need an updated Part A and B Medical Form for the Pre-Camporee and Camporee Events. Contact ASM Brandon Su for names of specific scouts who need to submit a new Part A and B form. Turn in new forms to Mr. Su ASAP.

Journey to Excellence "Gold Troop" - Congratulations scouts, parents and adult leaders on helping our Troop earn "Gold" status in the BSA Journey to Excellence program.

Scout Projects - Scout projects for rank advancement must be approved by Scoutmaster Banuelos. All scouts are encouraged to participate in these projects for their rank advancment. This a a great way to show your troop spirit. Check the activity calendar for more details

If you have a skill, hobby or occupation that you could share with our scouts, then please consider becoming a merit badge counselor. Parent Board of Review Committee: All parents are encouraged to join the Board of Review Committee. In order to advance in rank, every scout must sit in front of a panel of parents and answer questions about their scouting experience. Troop 301 parents are needed to fill these positions. Troop Committee Challenge: If you haven't completed the Troop Committee Challenge, please complete this online training course. This training is required for the troop to earn more points in the BSA Journey to Excellence Program. Log onto the www.myscouting.org website. Click on "E-Learning" from the left menu. Scroll down to "Boy/Varsity Scout" tab. Scroll down to view "Training Courses" and click on "Take Course" for Troop Committee Challenge. Please print a copy of your completion certificate and submit it to the Troop 301 Training Chair, Agnes Chan.

YOUTH PROTECTION TRAINING AND
POLICY CHANGES:

The Boy Scouts of America places the highest importance on creating the most secure environment possible for our members. Youth Protection training is required for all BSA registered volunteers. Current Youth Protection Training is mandatory for all new registrations or re-chartering. If a volunteer's Youth Protection training record is not current at the time of recharter, the volunteer will not be reregistered. Effective June 1, 2015 Youth Protection must be updated annually.

To take Youth Protection Training go to MyScouting.org and create an account if you don't already have one. Then click on E-Learning and take the Youth Protection training. Upon completion, you may print a certificate of completion to submit with a volunteer application or submit the completion certificate to the unit leader for processing at the local council. Please make sure that existing accounts have the member ID# linked to the profile to receive proper credit.
